STRATFORD.

BOWLING CLUB'S MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent..) Stratford, Yesterday. .The animal meeting of the Bowling Club was held last evening, Mr. J. YV. McMillan (president), being in the chair, there being about 40 members present. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l7 19s 3d. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. J. Masters; vicepresident, Mr. W. McDonald; committee, Messrs. North, G. Smart, J. Ryan, C. Martin. F. J. McDonald; green warden, Mr. H. Edgecombe; match committee, Messrs. Smart, North and P. -T. McDonald; delegates to Centre, Messrs. J. Masters and W. McDonald; secretary, Mr. S. M. Poritt; auditor, Mr. P, Skoglund.

Messrs. T. H. Penn, Betts, and Reeves, forwarded their resignations, which were accepted. Five new member.? were elected. It was decided to have the same competitions as last season. GENERAL. Quite a long discussion took place at last night's Bowling Club meeting' over the resignation of one of its members. It was moved that the resignation be accepted without regret, and despite an ;intendment to eliminate the last two words, the original motion was carried. The local Wounded Soldiers' Fund r.ow stands at £5412 lis 7d.

The Anzac Minstrels gave a performance at Midhirst last evening, the proceeds being in aid of the Sailors' Fund. A very large audience was present, and the performance was a great success. The fund should benefit to the extent of £ll through the Minstrel's efforts. At the half-yearly meeting of the Stratford Lodge of Oddi'ellovs, a resolution was carried appreciating the services rendered to the lodge by Dr. Woodhouse, while acting for Dr. Steven, and it v/as decided to forward a copy of the resolution to Dr. Woodhouse. Stratford's quota to the Sailors' Fund should be in the vicinity of £l5O, for already the committee have £11!) in hand, and the proceeds of a bale of wool, given by Mr. E. Marfell, are yet to come in.
