NORTHERN TERRITORY.
A DISMAL PICTURE. Ey Cable—Prts« Association—Copyright. Received June 28, 10.50 p.m. Melbourne, June 28. Boys, late manager of the Daily Kiver demonstration farm in the Northern Territory, has returned to Victoria. He * states he resigned the managership oil , account of the attitude of the Administrator (Dr. Gilrnth), and of. in his opinion, the utter hopelessness of settlement ever being in the least degree a success. He declares that most of the settlers ncre induced there by the roseate prospects conjured by the Administrator. They had already abandoned their holdings, and were leaving their stocks, implements and houses to avoid complete ruin. Recently, Dr. Giiruth reported things were going well at Batcholor farm, whereas the manager rep'orted that things were very bad. He considered the Daly River was never a successful dairying settlement, and therelore it was very unfair to "induce settlers there.
