At midnight the Cook Islands Department, £9500, was under consideration, and, in reply to Mr. Glover, Dr. Pomare stated that a medical officer had been appointed to visit outlying islands.— The vote was passed. Mr. McCallum moved that the Police Department vote be reduced by £IOOO, as an indication that members of the police force be allowed to enlist and go [to the front.—The amendment was rejected on the voices, and the vote passed. The Customs, .Marine, Harbor, and Inspection of 'Machinery Department vote, £IOB,OOI, passed, and the House rose at 1.-45 a.m. The Premier intimated that the House would not meet on Monday.
