PIG BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING AT PALMERSTON NORTH. (By Our Special Reporter). The Pig Breeders' Association's annual meeting was held at Palmerston on Wednesday, Mr. Veitch (president) in the chair. The report and balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £27 Is lid, were adopted. A discussion arose on the rule that no pig could be entered on the .-tud book without pedigrees of four generations being supplied. The chairman stated that one rule did not apply in the case of pigs which could be traced back two, or three generations to pigs registered in another herd book. Other speakers considered that the herd book should be open to pigs of well-known breeders who may not have kept extended pedigrees, but could guarantee that the pigs were from a pure strain. Mr. A. W. Green, of the Agricultural Department, stated that since January 1 about 100 pedigrees had been issued. On the motion of Mr. Knight it was resolved to open the herd book to pigs whose pedigree dated back to the third generation. The. time for receiving entries for the herd book was extended I until November 1, 191G, and subscriptions to the herd book were fixed at 10s (id. I It was resolved to hold the annual I meeting at Palmerston during the Winter Show.
