SPORTING.
TURF TOPICS. (By "Motiiroa.") Splendid acceptances are carded for all events to bo decided at the Napier Park winter mooting, which opens at Greoninoadows to-day, and provided fine weather favors the Club a record meeting .should eventuate. The acceptors include Dooil, Nita, Captain .flick, Sl'i'-x. Ineuru, and Crawford, from this province.
Sixteen remain in Hie Hack Hurdles, inclndimv good flat performers like Bon Hove. Municipal. Sir Solo. Birkful, and Nioomnr. and their showing over the small sticks will be followed with interest, flood reports come to hand of Sir Solo's n'hooling work, and he and Gazette (who ran well at Gisborne), may carry heaps of money. Tf Olupai runs up to Wanganui form the Hack Steeples would be all oyer, bui heaps of thing happen in these races, and possibly Otupai may not carry much more coin than Immensity and Master Malachi when the machine closes.
The Stewards' Stakes (one mile) bears an open appearance. Tf started, Kooya should command respect, but Ineuru and Unshabye have a big pull in the weights. Thirteen have been paid up in the. Napier Steeples (3 miles), so a satisfactory field is assured. If Xanpata were not umler a cloud the Porirua horse might have a chance of beaming the top-weights, though Braeburn must have an undoubted chance. Be•onl form may be responsible for the solid support accorded to Braeburn and Captain Mucky.
The runners in the Ladies' Bracelet arc not high class, but it will be interesting to note how Silenus shapes over a ten furlongs journey. This nag is said to be much improved since the Egmont meeting. The Ahuriri Hurdles (1} miles), is looked upon as a benefit for the owner of PursefiUer, that noddy being remarkably favored after winning so handsomely at Wanganui and at Ellerslie. Styrax, on the same mark, is bound to. give the favorite a big "go." Those who made Aurore such a screaming hot favorite in big flat events at Elcrslie recently will probably go for a recovery on that horse to-day in the Settlers' Hack Handicap, which reads like a nioro. reasonable proposition. Colonnade and War Tax ran well enough at the Gisborne meeting to suggest that they are fit. The Napier Park winter meeting will be concluded on Saturday, and the Hawko's Bay winter gathering takes place on Friday and Saturday of next week.
