TE AUTE V. WANGANUI. (By Our Special Reporter.) The matches between these teams, as usual, attracted a great crowd at the Palmerston Show grounds yesterday. <ind some fine play was witnessed, rousing a crowd of 5000 to a high pitch of enthusiasm. The senior match proved most exciting, the finish particularly so, when Wanganui, coming with a great rattle, notched ten points and reduced the margin between the teams to four points. Te Ante had all the better in the earlier stages, their forwards doing good work. Their backs, howover, whilst* individually good, were Inclined to go on their own. A feature was the following up and deadly tackling. The Wanganui team gave evidence of better combination, and executed some pretty passing ruses. Te Ante's first score came half-way through the first spell, when Riddifora got over from a scrambling rush. Wliiri's kick failed. Soon after, Moses crossed the line after a good run, and Seott converted. Then Wanganui attacked briefly, but the Te Aute forwards came down field with a dribbling rush and Riddiford, securing about halfway, beat the opposition and scored. Scott failed to convert. In the second spell, play was more even, moving up and down the field,, Te Ante were making more use of their backs and especially of Heperi and Whiri, the latter, a burly wing three-quarter of great pace, who was collared close to the line on several occasions, but finally scored after a great run from half-way, the crowd rising to cheer him. Scott failed to convert. Wanganui now pressed hotly, backs and forwards entering into the fray, and Perry after being held \p on the line, secured and dodged over. Montagu converted. Another passing bout saw Falkner dodge across, Montagu converted. Wanganui again attacked, but time was called with the scores Te Ante 14, Wanganui 10. Wa.iiganui Juniors beat Te ! Autc Juniors by 9 to 3 TE AUTE V. N.P. HIGH SCHOOL. The Te Aute boys will meet the local High School boys on Saturday. The game should be worth going "any dis- , tanee to see. The Te Aute team', with one exception, is the same as that which beat Wanganui College. It is as follows: Full-back, Pi.mii; three-quarters, Moses. Hindmarsli, 'Patina: five-eighths, lii-peri and Riddiford; half-back, Sainton; wing-forward,' Brown (capt.); forwards, Scott, Carroll. Paora, Kopu, Kelma, Onnnell, Tuiringa. Emergencies: Nanianu (forward), and Tungi (back). WAITARA V. SENIOR CADETS. At Waitara yesterday, in a good game, the New Plymouth Senior Cadets were beaten by Waitara by 12 ooints to 5.
