ANNUAL MEETING OF NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB.

The annual meeting of members of the New Plymouth Bowling Club wns held at the club's Davilion last night, Mr. M. Fraser presiding over a good attendance.

The annual report stated that the financial position of the Club had improved, tho overdraft being now £3O 10s sd, as against £35 12s Sd, the previous year. The Club held the banner for six matches, Josing it to West End in the last match. The Club matches resulted; Championship cup, Mr. H. Fookes; pairs handicap (not played out); singles handicap, Mr. H. Smart. The committee expressed appreciation of Mr. Luscombe's services in the care of the green. It was hoped he would consent to re-appointment as green warden. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, adverted that the president of ihe Club should be a younger and more active man than himself. tie congratulated the Club on the good season, and on the harmony that, prevailed. Mr. Wood, on behalf of himself and Mr. Woolley; claimed the pairs prize by ilefault. He stated that he and his partner made every effort to have the concluding games played. The chairman ruled the discussion out of order at that stage of the proceedings.

The balance-sheet showed total receipts at £2Ol ins Id, and expenditure £174 19s 2d, exclusive of the previous year's overdraft, £27 10s 4d. The as. sets were £O7O over liabilities

Mr. Chancy, collector of the committee of the Club's patriotic efforts, reported having received £(11 18s lOd exclusive iif interest amounting to lfls or 17s. Mr. A. K. Sni'irt pointed out that the money collected by all the bowling clubs in Taranaki was to be handed over to the Taranaki Centre to be distributed in such a way for the benefit of wounded soldiers as the Centre might decide. Mr. Firth confirmed this view and'suggested that the money collected by Mr Chancy should be given to the Centre but it was open for the Club to express its opinion as to how the fund should be used.

Mr. Cock moved that- the money be handed to the Centre for payment to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. ' Mr. Hull seconded the motion.

Mr. Kwing, while in favor of giving Hie bulk of the money for the wounded »oldiers, moved that it is the wish of the N T e\v Plymouth Club that £lO be given to the New Plymouth Ladies' Patriotic Guild.

Mr. Firth strongly advocated the Ivhole amount going 'to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund.

Mr, Carter suggested thnt the Patriotic Guild should apply to the Centre for a grant. Mr Cock having altered his motion so as to rtad that the money be handed to the Centre for payment to the Wounded Soldiers' or other patriotic fund as it may, decide, Mr Kwing withdrew his amendment and the motion was carried. An honorarium of £lO 10 s was voted lo the secretary and £5 to the. caretaker.

It was decided to remit the subserip. tions of members on active service.

The president then presented the champion cup to Mr, Fookes amid applause, also an accompanying entree jlish, donated by.the president. The cup for handicap sniffles was presented to Mr tf. Smart, amid applause. The question of the pairs handicap matches was then discussed, Mr. Wood rlaiminp the prize by default. Mr. Fookes siipaected extending the time for playing off the match, so as to decide who was entitled to the prize, and he moved in that direction.

Mr. Bary advocated eliminating the pairs matches. Mr. Hutton blamed the Match Committee.

Mr. Firth proposed that the match lapse. i Mr. Paton moved that the matter be referred to the incoming committee, and this motion was carried.

The usual votes of thanks were given to the executive, the ladies and the press, also to Mr Luscombe, and to Mr. Ohanev.

It was decided that the money collected for patriotic purposes be handed to the secretary of the Centre.
