URUTI RECRUITING.
To the Editor, r^ir, —I road with great interest the interview between vour representative and the blood-boiling Uruti settler that appeared in your issue of the 12th inst., in which 1m favs that if the recruiting officer would come out his way he would drive liini round to see the big, strapping young fellows -whom he calls slackers because tliey don't wear a khaki band. Now, I will go one better than that. If the recruiting officer will fix a date to be in Uruti, and get a medical man to accompany him, the strapping young fellows who have been rejected, with the exception of about four who have busino.'ses to dispose of before they can get awav, will parade in front of the Uruti store, and so save wear and tear of the blood-boiling settler's horse and gig, and also a feed of corn, as the latter is verv dear out here. —I am. etc., | ONE OF THE STRAPPING REJECTED. r.
