EAHOTU. (From Om Own Correspondent.) ' Raliotu township \va,s very much alive last sale day with one tiling and another all working for the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. The afternoon tea Vat the hall did a very brisk business, and the jud"-e (Mr. C. Gibson) at the Mock Court, held in Mrs. Quinn's parage, was busily finiii" ease after case that the polieemer were running in, and from this source a sum of money was realised amouutin" to £ls 16s 3}d. The gift sale of stoek, etc., commenced jitter Mr. N. King's ordinary sale, and bidding was brisk for all patriotic thing* One heifer, given by Mr. Colmer, was sold and resold until the amount of £2fi was reached. Mr. Fairbrother is to be congratulated upon the way in which be manoeuvred and got bids, particularly in the .pig line. Mr. Wilson (president of the Taranaki Wounded Soldiers' League) was present and gave a very interesting address before the sale commenced At about 7.30 p.m. people began to roll up for the grand concert which was held in the hall. The stage was beautifully decorated by Mrs. Tllingsworth and Mr. fr\ans, assited by Mr Sehinckle, and was a great credit. Mr. T. P. Hughson, sen'., presided, and before the concert commenced a vote of condolence was passed over the loss of Earl Kitchener. All the pel formers from town were well received. and every item received an encore. There was a record house to receive them; many could not be seated after seats had been borrowed. Captain Allen gave several patriotic recitations, after which a collection was taken up and realised £4 12s. Supper was then handed round. The net takings of concert and dance were £29 Gs, -\

An inquest was held on Saturday afternoon touching the death of Mr. Allenby, who was found dead near the Anglican church. The jury, consisting
of Messrs. Dawson, Bradley, Green, Baker, and T. P. Hughson, J.P., coroner, brought in a verdict of accidental death by suffocation.
