RECRUITING.
PRESENT POSITION. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Yesterday. The chairman of the Recruiting Board (Right Hon. W. F. llassey), has issued the following statement:— The position generally throughout the Dominion with respect to recruiting for the Eighteenth Reinforcements, due to mobilise during the last week of this month, is very satisfactory. The official figures of the registrations for the infantry as at date of Friday, the fltli ill St., all other arms of the service being full, are as follows: Group No. I (Auckland City), surplus Group No. 2 (Paeroa), shortage 50. Group No. 3 (Whangarei) shortage 40. Group No. 4 (Hamilton), shortage ID. Total surplus for Auckland military ! district l(i. Group No. 5 (Wellington City), sur plus 8. Group, No. 0 (Palmerston North), surplus 2. Group No. 7 (Napier), shortage 07. Group No. 7a (Masterton), surplus 20. Group No. 8 (Hawera), shortage 31. Total shortage for Wellington military district 08. Group No. ft (Christchurch City), shortage 43. Group No. 10 (Timaru) surplus 47. Group No. U (Kaiapoi) surplus 8. Group No. 11a (Greymouth), shortage 23. (.'roup No. 12 (Nelson), surplus 13. Total surplus for Canterbur" milihiv district 2. Group No. 13 (Dunedin CitV), shortage 35.
