WAITARA.
J (From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, Tuesday. The dance given by the Waitara Senior Cadets in the Clifton Hall last evening in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund came off very successfully, and it is expected the fund will benefit by about £l2 as the result. No efforts had been spared by the cadets to get the floor in good order, and they are deserving of very great credit for the capable way in which the various ar: rangements were carried out. The musical part of the- evening consisted of songs by Hiss S. Bnllott, and Mr. G. Bird, Jnr„ and a recitation was given by Mr. 11. Tate, the accompaniments being played by Mrs. Griffey. The music for the dancing was jiipplied by Misses Badley. .Tupp, Taylor, Harlin, and Frost, and Mr. M. Fowler, while Mr. 11. Kggioton was the M.C. The supper was provided by the ladies, and the tables were waited on by several cadets in uniform. The committee wish to thank the Municipal Band for playing in front of the Hall prior to the commencement of the social. On Saturday next a collection is to be made in the town for the benefit of the dependents of those who lost their lives in the recent naval engagement, and in order to attract the public the Municipal Brass Band will play a programme of music, commencing at 2.30 p.m. with the "Dead March." As the cause is a very urgent and needy one the public are asked to give their full support. The -esidents of Waitara will have the opportunity on Thursday evening of being treated to a first-class concert which is being given in St. John's Hall by the Lillipnt Troupe of young artists, who are of no mean ability.
