WHAT CANADA WANTS. A VOICE IN THE EMPIRE. Received June 12, 0.50 p.m. London, Juno 12. Mr. Foster, Canadian Minister of Trade, in an interview, said that the President had an excellent opportunity to abandon his old policy of "laissesi faire," and create an organ which would express the authority and voice of the Empire. He said: "We want to mobilise the spirit of Imperial co-operation to enable n° t fuce the problems of trade, comnio- - education, and defence, with a me, -a of plans and foresight. If we came together round a table of conference we might solve many difficulties. Canada is unable to establish preference with Australia yet, owing to various changes of Government. Canada looks to an extension of the system of inter-preference, and will be disappointed if it does not come."
