A Sydney table records the death of Mr. W. A. Wadded, a timber merchant of Wellington, He arrived in Sydney a fortnight ago and was taken ill and died in a private hospital. i Mrs. C. K. Street has received the following telegram from the Minister of Defence: 'Regret to inform vou a cable / received this day reports that your hueband is dangerously ill at No. 2(1 General Hospital." A London cable states that Engineer Sub-Lieutenant Davidson, of the Naval Reserve, who was a New Zeala«der, ha* died of n disease contracted in the Cnmcroons. Lieut.-Colonel .T. C. Froeth. who was awarded the JXS.O. 'or distinguished ' service in Lost Africa, is'a cousin of Mr. W. J. Freetli. of Pukeartihe. He went to South Africa as -captain with the second New Zealand contingent at the time of the Boer war and was wounded. On recovering lie joiued the sixth contingent in South Africa, where he remained at the conclusion of the war, having accepted a responsible position in the Deeds Odlce at Johannesburg,'of which he is now chief. Thr<* years ago he visited New Zealand and was married at Wellington.
