Meat.—The demand is in excess of the supply for all descriptions of frozen meat. Home-killed mutton and lamb are in small supply, and price? are high. Owing to scarcity of New Zealand mutton and lamb record prices are being made for Argentine lamb. New Zealand mutton, SJd per lb; ewe mutton, S.]d; Now Zealand lamb, 9M, Argentine mutton, lOd; Argentine lamb. 12Jd. Home, killed mutton, 13d; English lamb, 15d. Argentine beef is very scarce. Chilled beef, hinds 12d, fores' IOJd. "Butter—The market is quiet, and prices are slightly weaker. Danish, per cwt., 172s to 17fe. Irish creamery, salted, 160s to 1645; unsalted ll>2s to lliGs. Australian, salted, 15fis to IfiOs; unsalted, loSs to l(12s; good to fine quality, salted, 152s to Kits; unsalted 154s to 'lsoa. New Zealand'salted, 108* to 170s; unsalted, IfiS.s to 170s; good to fine quality, salted, lfi4s to 100s. Argentine salted, 154s to 150s; unsalted, 158s to IfiOs. Siberian, 130s to ]3Rs. Cheese —The market is weaker and tendency downward. Prices are irregular. Canadian, white, per cwt. 104s to ]o(is; colored, 104s fid to lOfls (id. English Cheddar 118s to 1225. New Zealand, white, lOfis to 110s; colored. 104s to 105s. States, white I (Mis to 103s; colored 100s to 103s. Estimated Canadian and States cheese stocks at London, Liverpool and Bristol on June Ist were 5(1,500 boxes, against (13,000 boxes at same time last year. Estimated New Zealand and Australian cheese stocks at London and Bristol on June 1 were 7000 crates, against 13,250 at same time last year.
Hemp—The market is quiet but steady. Manila supply meets the demand, but though large shipments are expected a scarcity of other sorts maintains prices. Government graded fair Manila, per ton, £53 10s; coarse £sl. ' New Zealand good fair, £4O 10s; fair, £47 10s. JuneAugust— Government graded fair Manila coarse £SO. New Zealand good fair £4B; high point fair £47; fair £4<i. The otitpnt of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday was 27,000 bales. Wheat—The market is dull and declining. English harvest prospects are favorable. Canadian wheat, afloat, 535; June-July, 52s Od. Australian, none offering. Argentine has been taken on account of Continent. Oats—Market continues dull. Hops—The market is firmer, as Imperial Government has prohibited the import after June 7. Wool—The market is very strong for merino and all grades of fine crossbreds, and is quiet but steady for all grades of medium and coarse crossbreds. Home clip is now coming on the market.
