TRANSPORTS ARRIVE.
TAHITI AND MAUNGANUI IN PORT 1 , By Telegraph.—Press Association. ; ■ Dunedin, 1 June 6. : The transports Tahiti and Maungarfui arrived this afternoon. The Tahiti had 139 men on board, 51 of whom were from England, and the rest were taken on board at Suez. Most are convalescent from illness. Majoi Wain is the officer commanding, Captain Cox is ship's adjutant, and Dr. Elizabeth Gunn is medical officer. The Mamiganni has 23 invalids. When the vessel left Suez there were included 1.) cot cases, but only the following live are now confined to bed:— Quarter-master-Sergt. D. W. Maatorton (Artilleiy), Sapper JT. R. Denize (Engineers), Trooper A. C. Healy (Wellington Mounted), Private J. M. Robertson (Canterbury Infantry) and Private IP'ort (2?£. Pioneer, Battalion). The North Island men leave to-morrow at 11.53 a.m. Lieut. Westmacott; 011 the Tahiti, lost a leg just above the ankle. One remarkable case is that of a Gre.vmouthgto'oopey, who received somo 30 shrapner wounds, and was given up by the doctors, hut he made a wonderful recovery and h now cheery and bright.
