Herr von Betlimann-Hollweg, interviewed in Munich, said that the present war map must be the basis of peace discussions. The enemy against whom iwe are fighting is superior in numbers. This is nothing new to us. A great king has given us a splendid, example. 'Providence has willed it again, and it is a good thing, too, because we are obliged to brace ourselves to very special deeds and efforts. My armies will endure victoriously, and, by God's help, win an honorable peace, such as we desire. To you. dear Field Marshal, Providence allotted the great task of treeing East Prussia from the enemy and carrying our arms far into Russia. The Fatherland will always remember your achievement.
