OBITUARY.
Mr. P. P. RALFE. - (From Our Stratford Correspondent.) News was received in Stratford yesterday of the deatli of Mr. J'ilchcr Frederic Kalfe, which occurred at Kaglan that morning. Mr. Ralfe, in the early days of Stratford, resided for many years at Cardiff, and was the first chairman of directors of the Cardiff Dairy Company, which was the first Cooperative Dairy Company that started operations in Xew Zealand. For years he did yoemau service, for the. company. He afterwards resided in Stratford, arid took a great interest in Borough affairs. He was a Councillor from 1002 to 1012, and occupied the Mayoral chair in 1007-8. He was also chairman of the ; Stratford Hospital Board, and represented the Stratford district for years in the Taranaki Harbor Board. ' He took a very ketn interest in Masonry, and on two occasions was elected Worshipful Master of the local lodge, and also filled the office of secretary for a number of years. Mr. Kalfe leaves two sons (Mr. Chas. Ralfe, of Raglan, and Mr. Fred Ralfe, of Bulls), and one daughter (Mrs. 0. M. Curtis, of Stratford), and a number of grandchildren to mourn his loss. The funeral is to take place at Raglan on Friday.
