McNab this afternoon, urging that legislation should be introduced for the closing of hotel bars at 0 p.m. for the period of the war and six months thereafter. Tin? views of the deputation were stated by several business men, who emphasised that it was not a deputation of abstainers or prohibitionists. ; Petitions were tabled, which contained the signatures of over 2000 adult residents within the borough. Mr. McNab, in replying, stated that as a member of the Cabinet he could not speak as an individual, but only with, the united voice of Cabinet. He stilted that just before he left Wellington, Cabinet came to the decision to introduce anti-shouting legislation. He was not free to state whether Cabinet had yet reached a decision on the early closing question. Information had been gathered from other countries and the representation of the deputation would be clearly placed before his colleagues. He could only assume them that licensing legislation would be introduced this session. I' MOVEMENT IN AUSTRALIA. INFLUENCE OF THE WOMEN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.
