FLOODS IN THE VARDAR. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, May 22. A Salonika message says the rise of the Vardar river has apparently destroyed the Strumnitza bridge, which the ' Germans rebuilt. There has 'been violent cannonading for three days west of the Vardar, but the storms have interrupted communication with the front. FRICTION WITH BULGARIANS. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, Hay 22. llr. Calvert, who is at Salonika, says that there are increasing numbers of deserters to the Greek frontier garrisons. He states tiliat the large transfers of Bulgars from the Roumanian to the Macedonian frontier 13 due to a continued shortage of rations, though the Germans are well fed. The officers fear to confront the Bulgars except in groups, as the exasperated and hungry soldiers are liable to sihoot when encountering Germans singly.
