SOME DESIRED CHANGES. By TelegTaph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Post and Telegraph Officers'' Con. fercnee adopted the following further'resolutions: That the conference urge that n'l positions falling vacant (including nose of high officials), be advertised in Ihe usual way; that the conference ask the commissioner if the refusal of the department to allow an officer to take up a better position in another department does not defeat the ends of the Public Service Act, lf)12; that the conference is of opinion that the present grading of the general division does not do justice to provide avenues of promotion for those officers who are prepared,to qualify educationally and technically for higher positions; that the commissioner be asked to set out the | position of officers as regards seniority • n promotion from the general to clerical division; that junior letter carriers ! stationed at home be given an allow- : mice, seeing that their duties are largely ' f'lterchangeable with carriers getting I double their salaries; that the constituI (in of the Appeal Board be so altered as I to allow of a stipendiary magistrate of vide official experience being chairman; that this Association is of opinion that nil appeals should be heard with open r'oors; that the number of public holidays granted to officers in the various branches should be equalised; that officers requiring sick leave as a result of their official environment should be ) granted annual leave without deduction.
