AT TRENTINO. AN AUSTRIAN OFFENSIVE. Received May 18, 9.15 p.m. London, May 17. The Daily Telegraph's Milan "correspondent says that the Austrian offensive at Trentino has begun, with 300,000 men, assisted by numerous air raids on open cities. AUSTRIANS CLAIM SUCCESS. Received May 18, 9.15 p.m. Amsterdam, May 17,. An Austrian communique says: Further positions have been captured, and our prisoners have increased to 141 officers, 6100 men, and 30, guns, A RETREAT Rome, May 17. A communique says: The enemy on the Trentino frontier followed ,ip an intense bombardment on May 14 with an attack by masses of infantry, between the Adige Valley and the upper Astico. After our first resistance, in which wa inflicted very serious losses on the enemy, wc fell back from our advanced positions to our principal lines of defence. Attacks elsewhere were of the charactei of diversions, particularly at Mont Falcone.
