APRIL SHIPPING LOSSES. London, May 15. Liverpool underwriters estimate the shipping losses, during April, apart from the Rangitira, at £3,909,000, compared with £2,129,000 in April, 1915, and £323,000 in April, 1914. Berlin, May 15. Submarines and mines in April sank 9(5 merchantmen, with a tonnage of 225,000 tons. FRENCH AIRSHIP LOST. Paris, May 15. A French airship fell into the sea off Sardinia and the crew of six were drowned. THE -SUSSEX. GERMAN REGRETS TO SPAIN. [Received May 16, 5.5 p.m. Madrid, May 15. Germany has expressed regret for her error in torpedoing the Sussex, thereby causing the death of the wife of the Spanish composer, Signor Granados, and will offer an indemnity to the family.
