PREPARE FOR WAR. THE POPULAR FEELIN New York, May 15. A. monster demonstration of 150,000 persons, including, 20,000 women, accompanied by ">OO bands, peraded the streets for the purpose of urging the nation to prepare for war All professions were represented, including twenty Supreme Court justices. ; ANOTHER PROTEST TO BRITAIN. Washington, May 15. The United States is preparing what the State officials describe as a very vigorous protest against British interference with American mails. The United States, it is understood, will refuse to countenance any further seizures or deI tentions.

A YANKEE'S FORECAST., i Received May 18, 10.10 p.m. New York, May 16. Samuel Hill, a son-in-law and business associate of Mr. James Hill, the railway magnate, who has visited Europe during the present state of war, has returned, and says that Germany is beaten, and that peace will come as suddenly as war started. Germany cannot struggle against the overwhelming financial strain, he says, and there won't be another winter campaign.
