SCENES AT TREBIZOND. TUMBLE TURKISH ATROCITIES. FATE OP ARMENIAN CHILDREN. . M Received May 15, 1.15 a.m. •"etrograd,' May M, ■Prince Argutinski's report on the condition of Trebizond after its capture states tHat the population were almost entirely Greek. The Turks had tied and the Armenians had been massacred and drowned, except a number of children, who were abandoned to the Greeks. Many chilSren escaped the massacres by fleeing from the city and hiding in ditches, feeding upon roots. A search revealed a number of them, who were a, terrible spectacle, being clad in rags, and sickly, haggard, and terror-stricken, believing tlTat they were going to be massacred. The Russians are dispatching the children to Batoum, where relief societies are succouring them. Russians and Greeks continue to scour the environs of Trebizond, believing that there are thousands in hiding. They found bodies of children scattered on the roadsides, many of them having been used for target practice. It is estimated that the Turk® drowned eight hundred at Trebizond alone.
