STRATFORD HOSPITAL BOARD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Tuesday. Present: Messrs J. McAllister (chairman), C. 1). Sole, R. JlcK. Morison, E. Hinc, E. Walter. Mrs. G. T,. McLaughlin, of Wanganui, was appointed district nurse for the Whangamomona district/ subject to the Department's approval. The Public Health Department has agreed to subsidise»the Board to the amount of £IOO per annum towards the salary of the nurse. Mr. A. Gray, health inspector, reported that during the month three cases of infantile paralysis were notified, two in Stratford county and one in Whangamomona county. Two were removed to hospital and the other case isolated at home. Dr. Steven, medical superintendent, reported that 19 patients were admitted, 19 were discharged, one died, and 15 remained; six operations were performed, and there were 2 cases in the isolation ward. The Minister for Public Health (Hon. (i W. Tiiissell) wrote asking the Hoard to assist recruiting, by making fit recruits for active service, and to grant free treatment to thuse needing same.— It was decided to inform the Minister that the Hoard had already granted the concession. Accounts amounting to were passed for payment.
