WAREA CONTRIBUTIONS.

To the Editor. Sir,—Mv attention has befn called to the fact that contributions from Warea residents to the New Plymouth Patriotic Committee's fund for the, relief of wounded soldiers, etc., were published in one of your issues of last week in such a manner as to appear as my personal contribution. As anything of this nature might have the effect of checking contributions, I hope you will allow me to Kate exactly what occurred. Some time since, Mr. Wilson (chairman of tlic New Plymouth Patriotic Committee), wrote asking me to start a local committee to act in conjunction with the New Plymouth one. fhiri 1 gladly consented to dc. A meeting was called. a committee set up, and subscription lists started. Up till now something over £SO has been promised, £2ll -ISs of which v.T.s soon collected and forwarded by mc to the chairman of the New Plymouth committee, together with a list of the contributors, and a suggestion that the list should be published. I sincerely hope this may yet be done, as anything that might lessen the amount raised to relieve those who have risked all and, in many cases, suffered much in defence of all that is worth having would 1)0 calamitous.
