LET OFF TOO LENIENTLY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Yesterday. A young man named Homo was lined :10s and costs to-day for failing to train for military service. He said that as his father was an American he was a citizen of America, but counsel pointed out that Home was born in a British country and was under the obligation. .Defendant was well known as the leader of the early anti-n#litarist movement. The Magistrate said that when he wanted a vote, as he had done, he became British, but when it came to a question of bearing arms lie became an American.
