TERCENTENARY CELEBRATED IN ENGLAND. By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright London, May 4. Yesterday was tlie actual tercentenary of Shakespeare's death, being April 23, old stylo. It was celebrated in the primary schools. The morning was devoted to lectures on Shakespeare's works and special national prayers. There was a holiday in the afternoon.

Tlie celebrations occupy considerable space in the newspapers, but tlie grave national happenings are distracting public attention.
