SOME STARTLING EVIDENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Yesterday. Sensational evidence was given at the inquiry into the fire at the clothing warehouse and factory of James Murphy, Lichfield Street. Max Robin, a Jew from Wellington, an id that some time ago Hollander, the partner of Murphy, offered liim a big sum to set fire to the warehouse, as business was declining and stocks were getting low. Hollander suggested that Robin should turn the gas on, close the warehouse and then put a match through the keyhole. Robin refused, and afterwards, at the Jewish Club. Wellington, heard the fire mentioned and informed the police of the offer to him.
