Representatives of the industrialists have consulted with Mr. Holman and Mr. Hall, and it is understod that the basis of a compromise has been reached. LABORITES CENSURE MINISTERS. Sydney, May 1. Contrary to expectations, the Labor Conference by 103 to 55 votes reaffirmed the censure motion. The conference censured the Government for inaction in relation to the first plank of their fighting platform. They did not ask the Premier or the Ministry to resign. The conference determined that the abolition of the Legislative Council and the introduction of the initiative and referendum shall be placed in the forefront of the labor policy and a referendum of the people taken on it at the coming elections.

The conference requested that the matter be given immediate attention and a decision arrived at by Wednesday evening. EMPLOYERS' PROFIT. Melbourne, May 2. The Employers' Federation passed a motion protesting at the Labor Council's attempting to dictate to the responsible Governments. SYDNEY VITAL STATISTICS. Sydney, May 2. The vital statistics for April show that the birth rate and death rate were 7 per cent, and 13 per cent, respectively below the average of the previous five years. TASMANIAN REVENUE. Hobart, May 2. For the first time in history the consolidated revenue for ten months exceeded one million.
