MOTOR BOAT MISHAP.
A XAEROW ESCAPE. By Tilegraph.—Pres3 Association. Christchurch, Monday. The motor boat Ariki, containing Charles Wendt, who was blown, out to sea by a son'-wester and bad been missing since yesterday, was picked up this afternoon and brought back to Lyttelton by the Harbor Board's tug, which went out in search.. The boat was sighted five miles outside Godley Head, making slow progress under a sail, improvised by stretching a rug across two oars. -
■vVJendt stated that the boat was blown fifty miles out to sea, when the wind veered round. About 4 a.m. he hoisted the impromptn sail, and using a watch as compass, he headed towards Lyttelton. He was about five miles out when the tug appeared.
