WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The s.s. Dorset arrived in the roadstead last Tuesday and sailed for Lyttelton on Sunday evening. Her shipment was completed in 19 lighters, and consisted of 13,521 quarters of beef and 874 packages frozen sundries. The local men who left on Monday morning to join the lGth Reinforcements were given a hearty send-off at the station. After an appropriate speech by the Mayor, a number of suitable items were played by the Municipal Band, after which cheers were given for the departing boys. The social held in the Clifton Hall last Friday evening in honor of the above men proved a great success, and was greatly enjoyed by those who attended. Dancing was the chief feature of the evening, and was interspersed with songs by Mrs. Roberts, Mr. Weston, senr., Mr. Henderson and Mr. C. Whyte, a duet by the Misses Langman, and a recitation by Mr. Stan. Tate. The music for the dance; was supplied by Miss Badloy, with extras by Miss Harlin, Mrs. Eggleton and Miss Frost. Mr. Hy. Eggleton proved himself an efficient M.C
