VETERAN INCIDENT.
To the Editor. Sir,—ln reference to the above, related at the veterans' gathering, regarding a veteran having - his horse shot under him, for the information of those interested, and the interjector in particular, there are still a few living who were present at Whenuakura that day, some forty-seven years ago. Mr. Harry Autridge was the veteran referred to, and he and others can verify the story I told, which was only a repetition of what happened, as told me by my father, Who was present. I have this last day or two been told by several veterans that the interjector was not present, and knows nothing about the occurrence, so the remark that "It's a d d lie!" can be taken for wttat it is worth,—l am, etc., D. J. HUGHES.
