Mr. Gerald Stead, the well-known North Canterbury ruriholder and race-horse-owner,'has enlisted in the artillery. He is a married man with a family. Paul Hansen, who has been interned at Auckland, is well known as one o{ the most successful lan<l agents of the city, as ex-manager of the Auckland Tramway Company, a member of its directorate, and also as a director of the Takapuna Tramway and Ferry Company. He has resided in Auckland for many years. His parents resided in Schlcswig, the Danish province annexed 'oy Prussia and Austria in 1864, and two years later incorporated with Prussia'. After the Austro-Pmssian war they relieved to Coburg, when Mr Hansen was born. His father, was chaplain to the Danish navy during the war between Denmark and Germany.
