MOTOR SMASHES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, April 21. A serious motor smash occurred on the Hutt road some time after midnight. Two cars were approaching one another at a smart pace, and when almost abreast the tyre of one burst, causing tht car to swerve, with the result that there was a viplent collision,' and two persons were injured. A man named Marshall had both legs broken, and a woman named Doley had her left leg 'broken near the hip. .The police are unable to get further details. Another accident occurred last night near the Government Buildings. A tramway freight car hit a motor, driven by a soldier, who was accompanied by his mother. The motor was wrecked, but the occupants escaped practically scathless. A MINISTER'S SUICIDE. Auckland, April 20. William Slade, a Methodist minister, aged 57 years, who was on leave for nervous breakdown, was found in his bedroom by his wife, suffering from a gunshot wound in the head. He died on reaching the hospital.
