MRS. CAMEROX FAREYVELLED. A social was hold in the Oakura Hall to bid farewell to. Mrs. Cameron, who has been appointed head teacher of the Kaimatn School, after having filled a similar position in the Oakura school for thp past five years. . The hall was well filled with a representative gathering of settlers of the district. Dancing for the young.people, with cards for the elder people, interspersed with musical items, contributed by Misses 0. Smart, Reece and Mr. Tichbon, and a recitation by Rev, Bailey, caused two or three hours to pass very pleasantly. After a tasty supper had been dispensed, Mr. W. K. Morris, the retiring Mm'srman, in a few remarks, expressed the feeling of residents of the district towards the guest, whom nil regretted o lose, for she had not only, during t: e past five years, been most painstaking in her school work, as was shown by (he splendid passes, but was always willing to help, wherever possible, in the interests of the district. Oakum's loss would be Kaimata's gain. He then resented her. on behalf of the residents of the district, with a beautiful silver rake dish. Mrs. Cameron, in returning thanks, stated that she regretted leaving a district where she had' received so many kindnesses, including the present generous gift, hut Kaimnta was a .bettcv position.
