THE SHIRKERS' QUESTION.
To the Editor. •Sir,—While agreeing in the main with the- suggestions of "Employer" and "Employer No. 2," re the employment of shirkers in shops and the issue of posters by the Recruiting l Board to those who employ no eligibles, may I add the suggestion that before such posters are issued the employers be forced to show that they themselves are not eligible? No doubt many employers of military age would tie onty too willing to add to their "war profits" by discharging eligible men and employing.cheaper female labor, while they themselves shelter behind the excuse that the business requires their personal attention. If the Recruiting Board's poster states that "Mr. So-and-So employs no shirkers, and is himself ineligible Jor service," the public will be better able to judge as to whom to boycott, arid the employers will be made to realise that the fact of "sacking'' their eligible men does not prevent themselves paying a visit to the recruiting officer.—l am,, etc.,' UNEMPLOYED.
