HOSPITAL BOARD.

THE MONTHLY MEETING. The Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met yesterday. Present: Messrs F. C. J. Bellringer (chairman). A. E. Sykes, E. Maxwell, M. J. MacReynolds, D. McAllum, J. R. Hill, G. V. Tate, D. H. McDonald and Mrs. Dookrill. WORK AT THE HOSPITAL. The medical superintendent (Dr. E. A. Walker) reported that the number of patients admitted to the hospital in March was 100. Seventy-five were discharged, seven died and 76 remained in the hospital. The highest number for, one day was 81. Thirty-seven operations were performed during the month. Dr. Walker added: ''Appropriately enough, the last month in the old institution saw several records established. The. number of admissions, one hundred, was 28 ahead of the previous best. The number discharged was three above the record of last month. Seventy-six remained in the hospital, 14 more than in any previous month, while on one day 81. patients were accommodated, eight over the previous record." The report was adopted, OLD PEOPLE'S HOME. Mrs. A. Bayly (the matron of the Old People's Home) reported that everytl'ing had progressed favorably during the past month. The supplies had been very good, and the discipline excellent. There were three admissions, two departures, and one death, leaving in the home 30 males and four females. The report was adopted. CHARGE FOE PATIENTS. Mr. Maeßeynnkls gave notice to move the following resolution at the next meeting of the Board: —"That, owing to-the increase in the cost of living, this Board will, on and after June 1, 1(116, increase the charge for patients in the hospital from 6s to 7s 6d per day, and that of inmates in the Old People's Home to 15s per week." DISPENSER AT HOSPITAL. In accordance with notice, Mr. Sykes moved that a resident dispenser and house steward be appointed at the hospital. Mr. Brown seconded, and the motion was carried.
