Two masked men entered the water conservation office at Lecton, late last night, flourishing revolvers. The cashier (Doyle) resisting, one of the intrducers fired, wounding Doyle in the thigh, The rqbbers escaped with £3OO in cash. A MOTOR CAR MURDER. Melbourne, April 19. Williamson and Taylor have been acquitted on the charge of murdering the chauffeur Haines on February 20. [A cablegram on February 29 stated; A mysterious tragedy has occurred near Heidelberg. ' A chauffeur, William Haines, was found dead beneath a motor car, covered with' a rug, and with four bullet wounds in his head,. There were bloodstains on various parts Of the car, which was sent from Melbourne in response to a telephone caller giving his name as Lestrange. An hour after the departure of the car it was discovered standing on the road with Haines dead. The police have ascertained that there is no Lestrange at the address given. There is no clue as to the perpetrator of the crime.] STATE FISHERIES. Sydney, April 10. The operations of the State fisheries during the past eight months have resulted in a loss of £BOOO. PASTRYCOOKS' STRIKE. Sydney, April 10. The pastrycooks issued an ultimatum announcing their intention to cease work unless certain holiday terms were granted. The employers secured an injunction to restrain them, but this was flouted by the men ceasing work.
