GOLF.
, TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. The annual Taranaki championship and handicap tournament will bo 'held on the New Plymouth Club's links at Waiwakaiho on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. The qualifying round of the Taranaki championship will be played on Monday, over 36 holes, while a teams match and a medal handicap will be combined with this event. It is usual for IB players to qualify, but in order that the final may bo played on Tuesday morning, only'eight will qualify this year. The four-ball match will also be played on Tuesday morning inatead of during the afternoon, and the bogey match to have been played on Tuesday morning will be deleted from the programme, thus leaving the afternoon free. The entries closed last sight, and "while they are somewhat smaller than last year, they include several flrst-cla,ss golfers. Altogether over fifty players will compete, including the following visitors:— Wellington—S. Turner, L. Climie, B. J. Reid. , Wanganui—S. Powdrell, P. S. iParkes. Waitara—S. Wvllie. Eltham-11. R. Jenkins, W. D. Boss, A, A. Stewart. Palmerston North.—R. Spencer, L. Seifert, W. Seifert, G. Sim, W. L. Fitzlierbcrt, C. Louisson, R, H. Pavitt, J. E, Lewis, F. W. Bond, J. C. Dunlop, T. A. Moodie.
