HEROES OR ZEROES!
To the Editor. Sir,—l notice in your issue of to-day that several able-bodied barmen of vour town are attempting in a palpably weak manner to show they are not shirkers. To my way of thinking, and to ; all I have heard discussing the matter, they have yet to prove their assertion. Of course, they may have a bad tooth or an aching toe, but are they really medically unfit? In order to test if they are, I have this day deposited £1 with the Daily News' .editor to be handed over* to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund if the whole of ihese strong men can produce their ineligible certificates from the local medical examiner, failing which they hand over a similar sum, to be used as above directe.d. This will prove to their customer whethei the strapping barmen are heroes or zeroes. Xow, you strong men, piease walk up to the morning paper office and prove that you have not cold feet!—l am, etc., PATRIOT.
