BRITISH SUCCESS. TURKS DRIVEN BACK London, April 14. The British defeated the Turks in Mesopotamia on the Tigris. The Turks were driven back three miles. GENERAL LAKE'S REPORT. London, April 14. General Lake reports: The troops south of the Tigris on April I*2 forced bftck the enemy' 9 lines over a distance of one and a half to three miles, after crossing an inundated belt, intersected by dee.p cuts. The water from the marshes was driven from the north-west by a gale into the enemy's trenches at Sannlyat. The enemy is taking refuge in a new position. He was heavily punis'hed.. A TURKISH CLAIM. SOOO BRITISH KILLED, ißeceived April 15, 5,5 p.m. Constantinople, April 14, A communique says: The enemy on the Irak front are extending their fortifications. Three thousand" British were killed on the 7th, belonging to Kitchener's 13th Division, chiefly two brigades. We had 75 killed and 108 wounded, and nine are missing.
