WEST END WINS THE BANNER. After a most exciting game oh the New Plymouth green yesterday between West End and New Plymouth, in the contest for the banner, West End wrested the trophy from the holders by the narrow margin of one point on the last head of the game. West End has now secured both the banner and the Gilmour Cup and they well deserve the honors of the season for their consistently good play. The winners of the various Club's singles competitions met at Stratford yesterday to play off for the champion of champions, the result being that the coveted honor was obtained by Mr. Sutherland (Inglewood), who, in the final,'defeated Mr. Parkinson (Hawera). The winner, who has played -most consistently this season, is to be congratulated on his success, while the veteran and popular runner-up is also deserving of praise for a better sport never, wooed kitty.
