THE SUSSEX NOT ATTACKED. Washington, April 12. Germany's answer to the United States concerning the steamer Sussex was that the vessel was not attacked, but that another vessel in the neighborhood was torpedoed. Germany admits that the Englishman, Eagle Point, Benvindale, and Manchester Engineer were torpedoed, but that the action was legal and in accordance with the rules of war. SHIPPING COMPANY'S REPORT. London, April 12. The report of the North German Lloyd Company admits that shipping is at a standstill. It states that five of its ships have been captured by the enemy, and that others are lying in various ports. Five have bleen requisitioned by the Australian Government and will be paid for accordingly. SWEDISH STEAMER SUNK. Received April 14, 12.55 a.m. London, April 13. The Swedish steamer Marjek has been sunk without warning.
