ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
y DEATH from shock. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Archibald Thomson, stevedore, of Gannaway and Co., died this afternoon from shock, following on an accidental fall into the harbor. RAILWAY EMPLOYEE KILLED. ■ Christchurch, Last Night. A railway shunter, named James Wells, aged 33 year?, and married, met with a fatal accident this afternoon. While engaged in shunting operations a line of tri.cks passed over both legs. He was taken to* the hospital, where he died to-night. The accident was caused by one of his feet getting caught between the switch and the rails. \ - DEADLY MUSHROOMS. Rotorua, Last Night. On Thursday, Mr. McConnell Hayes, of Mokai, reported to the police.that one of his children was dead and that four others were seriously ill, and there was no doctor available. Dr. Bertram went out from here and found that the childien wars apparently suffering from acute enteritis. Ho ascertained they had eaten raw mushrooms, and they may have eaten fungus, the symptoms being consistent with poisoning. One child (Rene), aged 3 years and 10 months died on Tuesday, and another (Vernon), aged IB months) died late last night. Two of the others are in a critical condition.
