PURE MILK.
MUNICIPAL CONTROL ADVISED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. . Replying to a deputation from the City Council and the Milk Vendors' Association, Mr. Russell said ■ho would exercise the whole power he possessed for the purpose of strengthening the hands of the council in ensuring the provision of a supply of pure milk. The Council, he said, had full power under, the Act of 1910 to establish a clearing house. He suggested that inspectors must be appointed to keep track of the milk on the railway and the conditions under which it was sold in the city, especially in sho,ps. The only complete solution' of the difficulty was. to be found in the Council undertaking the control of the distribution of the milk. By that means the cost to the consumer could be reduced by 20 or, 25 per cent, and still leave the Council, a profit.
