INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, April 4. The Red Cross Social on Thursday night was a great success. The music was supplied by Miss Card (piano), Mr. Stockman (clarionet), and Mr. Wilson (cornet), and was all that could be desired. Mr. De Launay carried out the duties of M.C. in a most satisfactory manner. During the evening songs were contributed by Miss Laing and Mr. Hargreaves. The funds will benefit to the extent of about £l2 10s as a result of tho social. The school is to be closed until Thursday on account of fumigation and general disinfection being carried out by the health officers. The Crescent Terrace Croquet Club are having a tournament on Thursday ne.vt in aid of the Red Cross funds. The court is in capital order, so a most enjoyable afternoon is assured for followers of tho game. The New Plymouth Railway Patriotic Committee have arranged for an openair concert to be held in the band rotunda on Thursday night. Messrs. Salisbury, Henderson, Taylor and Cattler left for camp by Monday's express, and I understand that Mr. Walter Matthews intends leaving next month.

Private Hargreaves, who went with the main body and has returned wounded, is on a recruiting campaign in the district, and is meeting with considerable success.
