INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, Yesterday. The following have enlisted and go into camp in April: W. Hamell, E. Webb, A. C. Long, T. E. Taylor, A. A. Simpson, W. Todd,V. Henderson, and (1 L. Sadler. The following go in Mav: F. J. Fggleton, T. H. Taylor. Mr. Newton King has purchased Messrs. Matthew, (jamlin and Co.'s auctioneering business, and, I understand, takes possession early in April. The business is a very old established one, and has a very wide connection, and I fed sure that as the district prospers so must the business improve. However 1 am certain that Mr. King will never regret the venture. I quite expect to see Lhe Inglewood sales fighting it out with Stratford for premier place. The semi-final and final in the ladies' tennis doubles was played on Saturday. Mrs. Matthews and Miss Esse heat Miss Curtis and Miss Evans, .10-20, in the semi-final, and Miss Esse and Mrs. Matthews beat Miss Riordan and Mrs. Armstrong, 30-25, in the final. About a dozen players were out on the golf links last week-end,- and report that the greens are in excellent order. The 'outfield, with two exceptions, the grass approaching two of the green being long is also in splendid order. The annual meeting is to be held this month, and play proper will commence right away. The Rev. Kain is to be transferred to Patea but the date of departure is not definitely known.
