BATTLE OF WAIREKA .
COMPLETE LIST OF SURVIVORS.. Pol' some time past- Captain Join Black and Captain T. Humphries have been compiling a list of tlie survivors of the force of Volunteers and Militijl which took part in the Battle of Wairoka on March 2S, ISdJ. The force numbered J5-2 men, rank and file, and naturally to trace some of the men after' so long an interval has involved a lot of correspondence. H»wever, the list is now as complete as it is possible to make it. There are 44 survivors, which is a remarkable percentage after a lapse of 56 years. Captain Black himself is about the youngest in the list, and he is within two or three days of 73 years of age. The list is as follows: Andrews, John, Brixton, Waitara. Allen, Thomas, New Plymouth.
