FIRES.
SHOP GUTTED AT NEWMARKET. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. A fire at Newmarket, this morning gutted a shop, factory and dwelling owned by Taylor and Co., furniture makers. The damage to stock was about £SOO. A workman, using a hammer on a vehicle, struck a loose match, which set iiro to some bales of flax and quickly spread, the workman having barely time to escape uninjured.
